Mexican Customs PolicyUpdated 2 hours ago

RFC & Mexican Tax ID

  • What is an RFC and why do I need it? Your RFC (Registro Federal de Contribuyentes) is your Mexican tax ID, issued by SAT (Mexico's tax authority). It is required by Mexican customs for all imports and must be provided at checkout for orders shipping to Mexico.
  • Where can I find my RFC number? You can find your RFC on any official tax document.
  • What happens if I enter an incorrect RFC? An incorrect RFC may cause your order to be delayed or returned to Assouline. Please double-check your RFC before completing your purchase.
  • What RFC should I use if I'm sending a gift to Mexico? If you are sending a gift, please enter the recipient's RFC if known. If you do not have the recipient's RFC, you may enter your own.
  • What happens if I don't provide a valid RFC? Orders missing a valid RFC may be delayed at customs or returned to Assouline. We strongly recommend providing your RFC at checkout to avoid any disruption to your delivery.

Additional Customs Policy

  • Why might customs contact me directly? For orders shipped to Mexico, customs authorities may require additional documentation or information before releasing your shipment. As Assouline is unable to facilitate this process on your behalf, they will contact you directly.
  • What documents might customs request? Customs may request proof of identity, your RFC, or other documentation related to your order. Requirements vary and are determined by Mexican customs authorities.
  • How quickly do I need to respond to customs? We recommend responding as promptly as possible. Delays in responding may result in your order being held or returned to Assouline.
  • What happens if my order cannot be cleared through customs? Orders that cannot be cleared through customs will be returned to Assouline. If this happens, please contact our customer service team at [email protected] for assistance.
  • Can Assouline help me with the customs clearance process? Unfortunately, Assouline is unable to facilitate the customs clearance process on your behalf. If customs authorities contact you, please be prepared to respond promptly with any requested documentation.

Order Limits & Shipping

  • Why can't I complete my order? Your order may exceed the $2,500 USD de minimis threshold, which requires additional customs brokerage that Assouline is unable to arrange. To proceed, we recommend splitting your order into multiple shipments so that each falls within this limit.
  • What is the $2,500 USD de minimis threshold? The de minimis threshold is the maximum order value that can be imported into Mexico without requiring formal customs brokerage. Orders shipped to Mexico must not exceed $2,500 USD per shipment.
  • Can I place multiple smaller orders to stay within the threshold? Yes, placing multiple orders each under $2,500 USD is the recommended way to ensure your shipments can be processed through customs without additional brokerage requirements.
  • Who do I contact if a product in my order exceeds the $2,500 limit? Please reach out to our customer service team at [email protected] and we will help you find the best solution.
